I been a mentor for the vast majority of my professional life.  Whereas I certainly hope I have been of benefit to those who have relied upon my counsel, I have come to realize that every such relationship has offer much to me as well.  I served five years in the United States Marine Corps as an officer, 23 years in the Federal Bureau of Investigation, retiring as an Executive Assistant Director (4th on the FBI’s command structure) and 13 years as a Senior Vice-President and Chief Security Officer for Verizon.  I feel as though my experience in the military, civilian government and the private-sector has provided me with a well-rounded portfolio of experiences making me comfortable speaking in front of virtually any audience.

My style of delivery involves telling stories which illustrate important points, ranging from leadership to personal empowerment & accountability, which are embedded in my presentation.  I seek to motivate the audience by reminding them of how critically important their work is, both to those they serve and the larger community.  I have found that folks can become demotivated by distractions which ultimately have little to do with their actual job. People need to know their work matters and my goal is to try and ensure everyone feels that way at the conclusion of my presentation.

• I typically seek travel to the selected location the day before I present and leave on the day of my presentation, though this may be dependent on the time my presentation is scheduled and the distance to the location.  I try to never incur more than a single night’s lodging.
• I use a PowerPoint deck with most of my presentations and can send the deck in advance of my presentation to facilitate its being uploaded on the platform being used at the location.
• I prefer to use a lapel microphone as it allows me to roam the stage and better connect with the audience.
• I am happy to do a question-and-answer session at the conclusion of my presentation if appropriate and desired.
